Regions & places for your holiday

For a holiday on Lanzarote, Playa Blanca in the south, Puerto del Carmen on the east coast and Costa Teguise are especially popular with families and couples. Playa Blanca stands for quiet coves and good connections to Fuerteventura. Puerto del Carmen offers long promenades, restaurants and close proximity to the beach. Costa Teguise is a practical starting point for excursions in the east of the island. If you prefer something more traditional, look for accommodation in the wine-growing regions near La Geria or in smaller villages in the island’s interior. A holiday home or holiday apartment gives you more freedom when planning your days on Lanzarote.

Activities & sights

Lanzarote is ideal for nature lovers and active holidaymakers. Among the best-known attractions are Timanfaya National Park, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes and Mirador del Río. If you want to go by the sea, you’ll find beaches and coves for swimming, snorkeling or walks along the water. Popular activities also include hikes through volcanic landscapes, cycling tours and trips to the wine-growing areas around La Geria. Art and architecture fans can discover many works by César Manrique. From your finca or holiday apartment, you can easily fit these highlights into day trips.

Practical tips: getting there, climate, best time to travel

Lanzarote is easily accessible by plane; the airport is located near Arrecife, and many holidaymakers hire a car there straight away. A rental car is especially practical if you want to visit several places, beaches, and sights flexibly. The climate is mild and often dry, with plenty of sunshine throughout the year. For a relaxed holiday home stay, spring and autumn are often pleasant, though Lanzarote is also popular in winter. In the summer months, you should plan your accommodation and rental car in advance, especially in popular coastal resorts and family-friendly areas.
